Held at 107 Projects Redfern, the festival featured workshops and participatory installations led by artists: Shahmen Suku; Bhenji Ra & House of Sle; Nicole Barakat; Dennis Golding; Deborah Kelly, EO Gill & Anastasia Zaravinos; Kieren Butler and Josie Baker. The festival was capped off with a Heaps Small Party curated by Heaps Gay.
Fambo Festival was an inclusive all-ages celebration of queer community in response to the exclusion felt through the 2018 plebiscite on same sex marriage. A moment of queer joy created with and for the local community, Time Out called it “The coolest new kids festival in Sydney”.
Fambo Festival was curated and produced by Jenn Blake with the support of Samantha Blake, Hayley Forward, Nico Bruni and Kat Dopper.
