Lillian Colgan

Lillian Colgan is an artist currently working between Warrang (Sydney) and Borloo (Perth).

Their practice explores the ways that normative social power shapes embodiment and considers how material play can be used to unpack complex feelings surrounding queer and trans identity. By drawing on their personal experiences, Lillian generates multidisciplinary installations typically involving sculpture, textiles, video and/or sound.

Since graduating in 2014, Colgan has exhibited at multiple galleries nationally including Lawrence Wilson Gallery (WA), Perth Institute of Contemporary Art (WA), FELTSpace (SA), Firstdraft (NSW), and Artspace (NSW). Colgan has participated in development programs and residencies at Performance Space, Vitalstatistix, Proximity Festival, and Cool Change Contemporary. During 2020/2021 they undertook a year-long tenancy at Parramatta Artist Studios.
